Bonjourno from Venice!!
Cheers for all the comments everyone-great to hear people r reading these!!
Place we staying at is pretty pud ew, nothing works! First night we had problems w the power and a/c and throughout it has just got worse- no Internet, no dryer, door on shower falling off lol
Anyway back to our adventures-Venice is way more beautiful than what u c on tv or in books! Like nothing I have ever seen before!
Visited st marks square and was amazed at the detail that went into making these beautiful structures! Warned against feeding the pigeons so I was very thankful-just walking amongst them was enough for me!!
We were then free to wander thru the many alleys Venice has to offer-spyed some things to buy then off to a Venetian lace making demonstration! This craft is dying out as machines take over. It blew my mind the skill and time that goes into making such beautiful pieces. Better experience than I thought-much like everything on this adventure so far!!
Gondola ride was next and how lucky for us but we got a cheeky gondolier - lol. He got plenty of kicks out of making us scream as he rocked the boat and tried tipping us out!! Soooo beautiful on that gondola-just amazing!!
More delicious Italian pizza for lunch on the side of the grand canal. The waiter thought he was hilarious with his wayward sense of humor!
Shopping next- we bought an awesome piece of art from the painter and of course a few masks! I even purchased "a grown up watch" as Heidi pointed out! Very cool.
Another adventure ensued to get home. Nothing as frustrating as Rome but fun none the less! Met our first helpful Italian lady who could speak no English but managed to get us exactly where we needed to go!
Goodbye Italy, we off to Austria today - looking forward to the drive and Vienna!!

Just found your blog site again after accidently deleting my history... Have enjoyed reading your entries... Sounds like you've having a blast!
ReplyDeleteRemember no chinese made replica tourist junk like plastic venetian glass or real venetian/chinese carved gondolas....How are you handling the heat?
ReplyDeleteGil - we only bought authentic paper mâché masks and hand painted art for ourselves, but we made sure to get you a plastic gondola and print of Venice especially for you!
ReplyDeleteStef asks what to do about swollen feet (from the heat!) we aren't coping!
