Day 15 - Amsterdam Improves

Let me begin by saying, if u keep away from the "red light" district and hash houses then Amsterdam has a glimmer of potential.

Bad beginning to the day w bfast at our "hotel" - dry bread and crackers?? Again no toaster...sad face! I chose not to eat in protest...lol, while H had two hard boiled eggs literally! Lol

Had an hour or two before our bike tour so we chose to visit the van gogh museum (pronounced ... Like ur hocking something up from ur throat!!) On the way we saw grass for the first time in this city...as in a field where u could play rugby grass! Tick in the right column for that ... Lol. We actually saw this famous guys masterpieces! Was really cool to see the change in his mental health thru his art...I no, I sound like I no wot I am talking about a! Sadly tho Elizabeth, no inspiration for the gala art, so I hope u have found something for me ... Lol

Hoofed it back to our "hotel" in time for our bike tour. I think we were both a bit nervous about how this would go as the bikers here r nuts...none of this Sunday drive stuff! Even u elizabeth, would be fretting just a little the way they ride over here!!

Our guides for the hour and a half bike tour reminded me of my extended dutch family. One looked like an uncle and the other had my cousins nose...so I felt at ease straight away! Got the low down on the dos and donts then got our cool bikes. I had "hurricane" while H had "tabetha" - remember to keep right at all times and use hand signals!!

It was so fun and really easy! A lot less scary than walking around with the bikes that's for sure! I really enjoyed it cos it was so risky - crossing roads and tram tracks and canals with the mentality of "1,2,3... Go...eyes slightly closed!!" H nearly got cleaned up by a couple of scooters who are allowed in the bike lanes too!! But seriously it was awesome...well worth the experience!! Amsterdam another tick for u!!

Rained towards the end of the ride so we came back, changed, and strolled along to the Anne Frank house. Lined up and within forty minutes we were out of the rain and inside. This was an amazing experience! A truly moving story. We enjoyed the book store before braving the rain and finding sum lunch.

Spent the rest of the arvo shopping for things that say Holland. Dad we had to buy another bag for all our goodies!! I found the best slippers ever and just had to buy them!! Wandered home to have a rest and freshen up before our dinner and river cruise.

Dinner was at a Chinese place ... Was all good and the river cruise was awesome!! Unlimited beers so took full advantage of that.

Amsterdam u redeemed urself!!

Ps we couldn't take photos in the van gogh museum or in Anne Franks house.
