On Sunday 30 July, when we woke up in Korea at 6.00am (9.00am NZST) the sun was up. We boarded our plane around 1.00pm that afternoon. We flew over Russia, which was mostly desert, and I managed to see St Petersburg before it got too cloudy.
We landed in Milan after flying over the Swiss Alps (see pictures below). After a brief stopover we finally got to Rome at 9.00pm (7.00am NZST) - just as the sun was setting.
22 hours of non-stop daylight!
