No I am not stoned, nor do I intend to visit a "coffeehouse". Today we left Germany and drove 660kms west to the "beautiful" canal city of Amsterdam. On the drive we watched Schindler's list and cried again.
Shortly before we arrived in Amsterdam we stopped at a farm on the outskirts of town. We had an explanation of how the Dutch Gouda is made and a taster. Unfortunately we could not buy any to bring it home because it is unpasturised. We were also able to watch a clog being made and then try them on. I found them comfortable but we had no room in our luggage to bring them home. The men whose house/factory/work area we were at were crazy! I think the tour likes to come here to show the passengers just what the Amsterdam drugs will do to u!! They were a tad mental! But the cheese was outstanding and the clogs were great. They all had my name on them so it was very hard to walk away without buying another ( dad u b pleased to hear that... )
We are staying in a hostel that prides itself in being unclean and unhelpful.
We dumped our bags..rooms not too shabby ... bathrooms on the other hand...
Freshened up then went on a walk to the center of town ..... Ew Amsterdam is a let down , it is dirty, smelly and the streets and canals are filled with rubbish-like literally have to step over it or walk thru it! Not impressed!
Left some of our group - not that many surprisingly - at a sex show, while the rest of us walked around and found a place to eat. H and I ... Well h ... Found an Italian place to eat-was stink az and a rip off!! Did some shopping...dad it has my name on everything...how can I just walk past AND I am the queen of holland after all!!!
Met up w the sex show ppl who weren't as smiley and as happy as u might think. Our guide took us on a tour of the red light district-woman of all shapes and sizes in windows. And that is all I will say about that!!
Oh Amsterdam ... I feel cheated!! Sad face!!

Well done Stef and H It's not your job to prop up the entire european economy.. Being the Queen of Holland, Stef does give you certain privileges....When did you change your name to Made in China. Head to the coffeehouse and have a few cookies and have a herbal tea.lol
ReplyDeleteJust got back from the van high museum which was awesome. Going to Anne's house this avo bc only had 2hrs this morning. Apparently there are usually lines. Will prob miss the Heineken factory (unless Anne's house is really quick) but had one on tap with dinner last night an it was really good! Much better than the bottle stuff in nz
