Day 7 - Budapest adventure

Day seven, already a week has flown by! We are sweltering in the heat and are so tired but we are really pushing ourselves to c as much as we can!!

Anyways our free day to xplore this city started off poorly as someone (not naming names Heidi) left the camera battery at the hostel!! Once we sorted ourselves out we made our way back to the st Stephens basilica were we made our way to the top. This one had an elevator so we were happy about that. Great views of Budapest from up there. We were both amazed that the dome is made from wood.

From there we purchased another 24hr ticket for the train and rode it to the house of terrors. As our Hungarian is fairly non - existent we used our inference skills to catch the train to a stop called hosok fere - looks like house of terrors but turns out it sooo wasn't lol. While at this place we got invited to join the great hari Krishna parade and st march. Lol

House of terrors is a museum all about the victims of the nazi related Hungarian arrow cross regime and the communist regime after ww2 - some who were tortured and killed in the basement of th building. ( did u like that cos I had no idea what was going on and was really bored and hungry here- I copied that blurb from a handout they gave us lol) Heidi enjoyed it!

Subway for lunch - struggled to order so was happy to get what we did! Just ate it!

Our afternoon was hot hot hot again. We took in the marvelous buildings Budapest has to offer and man we covered some miles! Our poor feet. The parliament buildings were amazing-leaves our poor beehive for dead. Walked across the famous chain bridge to the Buda part of Budapest. A movie making crew was on it making some sort of action film - they had a motorbike and the actor guy looked worse for wear!! Lol

Caught a furnacular up a mountain to the amazing Buda castle! Sat in the shade for awhile until our sweat dried and our energy returned!! Walked on to fishermans bastian. Reminded me of like a Disney set with the pretty castle tower things. Seen more pretty churches and castles before catching the train home for a shower, coffee and a power nap!! Lol

Stumbled upon this way cool place for dinner. Backdrop of a gorgeous castle and in the middle of this pond was a massive big screen playing Wimbledon men's final....awesome. Communication problems again in ordering our dinner but all good. Beer went down very nice though!!

More exploring of castles and random things before trying real Hungarian langos and finding a magnet to buy and traipsing home.

We buggered, hot and Heidi a bit sick! I'm trying hard to stay sickness free- cant let it in!!

Poland tomorrow and more funny money BUT so xcited about visiting auschwitz!!

Hope u all good back home. The comments have dried up so c'mon people write us please!!

  3. Hi you two back from Dunnas.... Stef cure for swollen feet... walk on hands...Getting worried blog mentioning little nick knacks you are buying.... Perhaps the bus should drop you two further away from your hostel. that will stop you from buying trinkets.... Go hard you two.... Heidi best way to get rid of that bug is to past it on.... You have a bus load of candidates
